Some History
Milnerton was named after Lord Alfred Milner who was the new High Commissioner of South Africa in 1897. Paarden Island, the industrial village of Milnerton, was named after the wild horses that roamed freely there during the days of Van Riebeeck.
Milnerton and Paarden Island's industrial developments began sprouting up from as early as May 1900 when William Hare requested a portion of the land to rent at about £25 per month.
