Randburg real estate also benefits from being situated in one of the suburbs sporting the most planted trees in the country.

Most facilities are just a stone's throw from the residential areas and it boasts a number of top schools and hospitals.

Randburg Johannesburg History

Randburg's first residents were Boers who settled here after the Great Trek. One of the oldest houses in the area, Hy Many, is still standing today.

After a competition in 1959, the name 'Randburg' was chosen out of many others such as Mooirand, Uniekburg and Wonderstad! The residents often fought against becoming incorporated into Johannesburg, viewing themselves as a separate town. Randburg became an independent magisterial district with its own court in 1975.

Randburg Attractions

Being situated in stylish northern Johannesburg, Randburg boasts many popular destinations and is close to a host of exclusive shopping centres, art galleries and a world heritage site.

The Brightwater Commons (previously known as The Randburg Waterfront) is the most prominent feature of Randburg. It underwent a revamp, changing the harbor look to a more natural shopping environment with an urban twist, sporting fantastic restaurants and craft markets.

The Randburg mall was the first 'outdoor mall' in the area. Other interesting places are the Melville Koppies Nature Reserve, the Randpark Golf Course and the Kelland Bird Sanctuary.
